Global Leadership Retreat Portfolio

I was the Curator and Program Lead organizing this annual 4 day leadership retreat for emerging creatives of all disciplines age 18-30 telling stories for social change. I put together a program of workshops, panels, performances, wellness practices, team-building activities, and a pitch competition. Participants received mentoring to develop project proposals to qualify for a grant to make their project a reality. I worked with a team of 5 people over the course of 6 months to put this together for its 4th year with the support of The Peace Studio and Green Space Miami.

The Peace Studio: “Artist as Catalyst” in Miami

Facilitator and Program Lead for a 6-session eco-art program for elementary school students inspired by the work of internationally renowned eco-artist Xavier Cortada. I began as a Teaching Artist then became a Program Lead. I refined the curriculum design of the program by clarifying learning themes, and spearheaded identity-forming initiatives like framed group photos and graduation certificates.

I mentored a group of 12 students from 6 of Miami Dade College’s campuses through a week long Spring Break retreat to the Narrow Ridge Earth Literacy Center in Tennessee. The annual immersion is designed to give students a taste of sustainable and regenerative lifestyles. Activities included tours of sustainable home designs, building green energy infrastructure, planting trees, vegetarian meals, yoga, gardening volunteer work, sustainable burial practices, night vision walk and learning to navigate with the stars, lessons on the academic lineage of Earth Ethics, the Cosmic Walk ceremony and the Universe Story Painting, daily solo time in nature, and heart to heart circles. Afterwards I mentored the students for a year to create campus projects inspired by their experiences.
